Membership

 

As a member of SASA, you are expected to abide by the following code of practice:

  • All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
  • All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity.
  • Members should recognize the valuable contribution made by coaches and officials who are usually volunteers. They give their time and resources to provide skiing for you.
  • Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach if they are going to be late.
  • Members must wear suitable kit – helmets,  long sleeved tops,  trousers,  gloves – for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager.
  • Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly and is required by debit/credit card (via Stripe) at the time of joining. If you can’t do a Stripe payment then contact the SASA Treasurer before joining.
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.
  • Members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.
  • Bullying of any sort will not be tolerated.

As a parent/carer of a SASA member, you are expected to abide by the following code of practice:

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never force your child to take part in sport.
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all
  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
  • Make sure your child understands that the coach is in charge
  • Publicly accept officials’ judgements
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.
  • Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

SASA is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with Lesley Gash, Child Welfare Officer

Membership

Who is it for?

Individual members who are 16 and above who have completed an application form for membership, made due payment of the appropriate subscription fee and whose membership has been approved.

Fees/Admission/Limited Liability

  1. The membership year  is 1 September to 31 August.  The current membership year 21/22 ends on 31 August 2022.
  2. Any fee accompanying a membership application will be processed by the Company upon receipt. If an application is not accepted the fee will be returned to the applicant.
  3. The cost of the annual fee is set each year and payment is required by debit/credit card (via Stripe) at the time of joining. If you can’t do a Stripe payment then contact the SASA Treasurer before joining.
  4. All Members must be aged 16 and over (based on DOB).
  5. I note that this is also an application to be a member of Southampton Area Ski Association Limited, which provides for me to pay £1 as a guarantee upon the dissolution of the Company, as per the Articles.

Voting entitlement

Members are Voting Members of the Company and are therefore entitled to vote, receive notice of and attend general meetings of the Company.

Termination of Membership

  1. A membership will be deemed to be terminated if a membership fee is not received within 14 days of an application for membership.
  2. Membership can be terminated for actions deemed to be inappropriate for a member or damaging to the Company or any part of its membership.
  3. A disqualified member has the right of appeal to the club membership by submission in writing within 14 days of termination of membership.
  4. A member may withdraw from membership of the Company by giving 7 days’ notice to the Company in writing.
  5. Membership is not transferable.
  6. A person’s membership terminates when that person dies or ceases to exist

Junior Membership

Who is it for?

Changes to the membership admission process and annual subscription fees

  1. The Directors reserve the right to amend without notice the application and admission requirements of membership and the annual subscription fees payable by members.
  2. Subscription fees may not be increased retrospectively.
